Rob Bell is a neat guy.

I had actually heard this idea - that every time we breathe we say the name of God. Yahweh. How awesome is that? Sometimes it's nice to just sit. To just lay there. Listen to our own heart beat. Our own breath. And wonder why it keeps going. We aren't willing it to happen. We can't stop our heart from beating like we can stop talking or moving. Something outside of ourselves is willing our hearts to beat, our bodies to take in air. Something transcendent, something powerful, something so beyond ourselves. Maybe someone really was getting at something when they said, "Be still and know that I am God,"- Psalm 46:10 : ) God knows what He is talking about!

Another thing to consider. In Beth Moore's Bible study called Stepping Up, she says, "If God had already taken us everywhere He intended, we'd be at His glorious feet by now. That you and I are still here drawing terrestrial breaths tells us that God still has appointments for us."
He's not allowing those breaths to continue for no reason. He has reasons and purposes for us each day. And He doesn't leave us empty handed.

Like Rob Bell said, one thing that I learned at church this semester was that the same Spirit that resides in Jesus and raised Him from the dead, was given to us and resides in us today. Romans 8:11 says "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will aslo give life to your mortal bodies thrugh his Spirit who dwells in you." What more power and strength could we ask for?! No wonder God tells us to not be afraid! We have Him and all his glory and power on our side. How wonderful. And how undeserving are we.
